It is a poem about dealing with the darkness that you have created to protect yourself.

The Shadow You

By Eden K. Simeon

There’s something sinister,

Lurking, hidden within.

Making you feel lonely,

Pretending to be your only friend.

Keeping you stagnant, dormant, and scared to move.

Stopping you from progressing,

It wants to consume you.

Keeping you up late at night.

And telling you lies.

Your shadow self, overpowering you,

Taking you by surprise.

Devouring your dreams and wishes too.

Giving you an addiction to comfort you.

How do you lose this darkness that keeps you awake,

And pretends to care?

The light that God Himself provided for you,

Is always there.

To cast out any darkness that overshadows.

For He’s given you the power to overcome all odds.

To cast out all demons or whatever the cause.

How do you activate this light within?

How do you overcome this darkness that grows in leaps and bounds?

You can use your mind’s eye to lock them out.

You can ground yourself on Mother Earth.

She will help you out.

You can fast to control your elements within.

To free yourself from the chains of devilment.

God has provided you with multiple avenues you can use.

It’s up to you to find which one is best to strengthen you.

If you’re still fearful, allow the Holy Spirit to assist.

To guide you, defend you on whatever persists within you.

To free you from the shackles your shadow self has created.
